It’s all Bush’s fault!

Yesterday, a friend of mine sent me an email asking for help. She had a Repuke friend of hers posting an article that she just knew was way off base, but didn’t know where to begin looking for the correct information.

So, I spent the time to help her out. That’s what friends are for, right? 🙂

Here is the article:

I also posted a reply, but had to clean it up a bit, since it flagged me for profanity. I guess they can’t tell the difference between the letter “s” and the Cyrillic Small Letter “Dze” (which looks identical to an “s”). LOL

Here is my original reply, for those mature enough to handle a little profanity:

As for all the promises that Obama hasn’t been able to keep, maybe this douchebag writing the article thinks that Obama has a magic wand that he can just wave and make it all happen. Unfortunately, the idiot has a problem with his memory AND his ability to think logically. Obama has busted aѕѕ to make some major changes, DESPITE the “Party of NO” obstructing everything he’s tried to do.

“broke Obama’s promise for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.” ?? – Nobody is blaming Bush for that, we’re blaming the hypocritical Repukes, who will stop at nothing to say “NO!” to anything that Obama tries to do, even when those same Repukes are the ones that came up with the idea(s) in the first place!!

Yes, Bush is to blame for the outrageous deficit, budget and unemployment, because he spent 8 years totally screwing up our country financially. No sane, logical person would expect those problems to A) not get worse before they get better, and B) clear up instantly. Cleaning up the mess that Bush made is going to take a long time … longer if those same Repukes that backed Bush’s ideas originally keep obstructing the very things that will help to repair our country.

I also took some time to research one of the claims made, about Obama’s approval rating being the “fastest dive ever”. This was easy to refute, but it took me a bit of time to really break it down to write about it.

This is what I came up with:

“Fastest dive in popularity ever.” = FALSE

You’ll get an approval rating chart. Click on Truman, Ford, Reagan and Obama. Hover over any point in time, and you’ll see how many days in office, and the percentage of approval.

In Truman’s first week, he was at 87%; in Ford’s first week, he was at 71%; Reagan’s first week was 51%; Obama’s first week was 66%.

At 28 days into it, their numbers were 87%, 66%, 60%, and 62% respectively. Reagan was the only one to have an increase.

By day 100, some bounced back and some didn’t. But notice how Ford was at 48%. Obama is still at roughly the same as it was in the beginning, at 65%.

By day 150, we see a drastic drop for Ford, to 37%. There’s also a major drop for Reagan – 59%, though still not lower than his first week. Obama drops a little bit to 59%.

When we hit day 300, Ford is the only one above 50% (at 52%), while the rest are all sitting at 49%. Yep, even Reagan, who had a steady drop in approval after the first 100 days in office.

But that’s not all. By day 450, Obama ranks the HIGHEST out of these 4 at 48%. Truman is at the lowest with 33%. Ford gets 44% and Reagan (still not at his lowest) at 43%. Reagan will hit his lowest point (35%) in 1983, 2 years after taking office.

If we look at current numbers, Truman was at 48%, Ford was at 47%, Obama is at 46%, and Reagan was at 42%. This is at 621 days in office, which is the latest report for Obama.

As for the rest of the stuff on the link, I’ll have to do more research. But just off the top of my head, the largest budget ever, I know that’s incorrect. If they’re comparing apples to oranges (today’s dollar figures to the dollar figures of 50+ years ago), they’re going to LOOK bigger. But if you compare the figures the way you should be, then I’m fairly certain that the budget during the depression of the 30’s is larger.

As for the deficit, they neglect to take into account that until Obama took office, it was G.W. Bush who held the title of the largest deficit … which Obama INHERITED, along with 2 wars that weren’t budgeted for, and huge tax cuts for the rich that add to the deficit.

And I’ve only read the first paragraph at that link! Oy!

I would love to hear from someone who has exact data on the budget and deficit. Anything else that can be added to this would be helpful as well. I will pass along all of the information I receive to my friend.

Rebutting a Repuke is always a good thing. 😉
